Chi sono
Fabio Alimonti è nato a Roma, città in cui vive e lavora. Architetto e imprenditore immobiliare, coltiva la fotografia come ricerca personale e come naturale estensione del suo rapporto con lo spazio, la luce e la presenza umana.
Il suo lavoro attraversa fotografia urbana, ritratto e architettura. Predilige il bianco e nero, che usa per sottrarre la scena al superfluo e isolare gesti, sguardi, geometrie e passaggi di luce. Il rigore della composizione, maturato nella formazione progettuale, convive con l’immediatezza dell’istante: archi, porte, superfici e linee d’ombra diventano dispositivi narrativi, mentre la figura umana dà misura e significato allo spazio.
Le sue immagini nascono senza messa in scena. Fotografa ciò che accade, non ciò che vorrebbe accadesse: un volto segnato dal tempo, un bambino che restituisce lo sguardo, due persone sedute in silenzio in una chiesa d’estate. Anche in camera oscura digitale il lavoro resta manuale e misurato — luce, contrasto, tono — senza artifici e senza interventi generativi: l’immagine deve restare fedele a quello che era davanti all’obiettivo.
Gli scatti prendono forma soprattutto in viaggio, tra luoghi e incontri in ogni parte del mondo: città e paesaggi lontani, culture diverse, con Roma sempre come punto di partenza e di ritorno. Luoghi e persone non sono mai separati: l’ambiente entra nel ritratto e il ritratto restituisce identità al luogo. Accanto al bianco e nero, il colore compare quando è la luce stessa a farsi soggetto, fino a trasformare la città in ritmo, movimento e materia luminosa.
Il filo che tiene insieme il suo lavoro è il tempo: l’attimo prima di un gesto, il peso degli anni su un volto, il punto fermo intorno a cui tutto scorre, la soglia che separa ciò che passa da ciò che resta. Ogni fotografia è il tentativo di consegnare a quell’istante una durata ulteriore.
Nel 2026 è stato selezionato per la Mostra Collettiva Internazionale “Bazart Margutta”, presso la Galleria Dantebus Margutta di Roma, dove presenta l’opera “Oltre la Soglia”, realizzata a Tangeri.

Fabio Alimonti was born in Rome, where he lives and works. An architect and real estate entrepreneur, he pursues photography as a personal form of research and as a natural extension of his relationship with space, light and human presence.
His work moves between urban photography, portraiture and architecture. He favours black and white, using it to strip the scene of the superfluous and isolate gestures, gazes, geometries and passages of light. Compositional rigour, shaped by his architectural training, coexists with the immediacy of the moment: arches, doorways, surfaces and lines of shadow become narrative devices, while the human figure gives scale and meaning to space.
Nothing in his pictures is staged. He photographs what happens, not what he would like to happen: a face marked by time, a child returning the gaze, two people sitting in silence in a church in summer. Even in the digital darkroom the work stays manual and restrained — light, contrast, tone — with no tricks and no generative intervention: the image must remain true to what stood in front of the lens.
His photographs take shape mostly while travelling, drawing on places and encounters all over the world: distant cities and landscapes, different cultures, with Rome always as the point of departure and return. Places and people are never treated as separate: the environment becomes part of the portrait, and the portrait gives identity to the place. Alongside black and white, colour appears when light itself becomes the subject, turning the city into rhythm, movement and luminous matter.
The thread running through his work is time: the instant before a gesture, the weight of the years on a face, the still point around which everything flows, the threshold between what passes and what remains. Each photograph is an attempt to grant that instant a life beyond itself.
In 2026 he was selected for the international group exhibition “Bazart Margutta” at Galleria Dantebus Margutta in Rome, where he presents “Oltre la Soglia” (Beyond the Threshold), photographed in Tangier.
